CBD has become very popular across the globe, but not everyone chooses to use CBD for the same reason! In this blog, we take a look at some of the common motivations for using CBD products.
One reason that is often given for why people take CBD is pain relief or pain management. While research is still in its early stages, initial studies have been extremely promising in showing that CBD has pain-relieving properties which could be helpful for a range of conditions, including arthritis, multiple sclerosis and fibromyalgia.
CBD is believed to have anti-inflammatory properties, which is potentially why it may be useful for relieving pain.
There have also been many personal anecdotes and testimonials by those with chronic pain conditions who say it has helped them to find some relief.
A 2019 survey by CBD-intel found that 50% of current CBD users in the UK gave ‘pain relief’ as the reason for their use of the products!
Another very common reason for using CBD is to manage the symptoms of certain anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder. In fact, the same survey mentioned above showed that 16% of people in the UK use CBD in order to relieve anxiety.
A scientific paper published in 2015 looked into cannabidiol for anxiety disorders and found that it has value as a potential treatment.
Even those who do not suffer from a particular anxiety condition are likely to feel the damaging effects of stress from time to time, which is why this is another common reason for people using CBD.
Those same anti-anxiety effects mentioned above may help those experiencing stress by bringing a sense of calm and relaxation to the body. Some have also suggested that this has the added impact of helping you to better focus on one thing at a time, rather than being distracted because you are overwhelmed.
Another common reason that people give for using CBD is help with sleep. It is thought that the feeling of relaxation it seems to give could help to calm your mind as you get into bed, therefore helping you to fall asleep more quickly.
Not as much scientific research has been done on CBD for sleep, but there is plenty of anecdotal evidence out there, so it might be worth giving it a go! This is especially true as poor-quality sleep is often a knock-on effect of other things, such as pain or anxiety.
Some people have also suggested that CBD can be useful for relieving muscle pain and soreness after exercise, due to its anti-inflammatory properties. This has led it to become popular with athletes, sportspeople and those leading active lifestyles, as they want to try it out for muscle recovery.
Those are just some of the most common reasons for using CBD products, but we are sure there are many more out there! As research into these areas continues, we will be interested to see what CBD could help with.
